Second, and more uniquely in the World of Darkness, Each immortal follows their own version or Code that modifies their idea of what honor is and what constitutes Dishonor. A newly resurrected immortal or one who has been utterly cut off from the rest of the world will still follow the rules of Integrity. Honor has a few caveats though: first, not all immortals follow its tenants, only those who have been properly introduced to the game. Assume that anything that can cause a Breaking Point due to the character’s own actions towards another person (as opposed to things that happen to the character) can potentially cause an Immortal to risk Dishonor. While the Honor System replaces the Integrity system found in the God Machine Chronicle, it does not discard its tenants entirely.
While Honor is obviously a personal thing there are some laws that are largely agreed upon. There is no one correct reaction to the realities of the Game and the Gathering but with time and training one can learn to cope and to facilitate that they are taught a code to live by, a code of honor that makes the thought of literally fighting for your life at least somewhat bearable. When one is supposed to live forever, to never die or forget the lives that are left behind, the thought of being killed can be overwhelming worse still, the thought that someone out there is actively hunting you, and that if you are to survive to enjoy your “eternal life” you will be forced to kill in turn, it can take its toll.
